Our Story
Cafe Cebada is a labor of love. As a family we became convicted to remove coffee and tea from our diet. Neither has been shown to be actually good for us while there is mounting evidence that coffee and some teas may in fact be harmful to our system.

Coffee has been associated with increased stomach acids leading to heartburn, caffeine dependance, increased blood pressure and sleep disturbance just to name a few. Other reports state even serious more negative effects. Either way you look at it, we decided that removing coffee and tea from our diet would reap positive mental, physical and spiritual benefits. However, we missed having a warm cup in our hands and the comforting feeling of a warm beverage in the early morning and while reading.

We were convinced that we could find a suitable alternative and we did. After much research we chose to work with pearl barley because of its special roasting characteristics. Several tripped smoke alarms later, (we started our experiments on the kitchen stove) we finally came up with just the right roast. The smooth but hearty coffee flavor and dark roasted color were finally just right.

Today we are proud to offer the finest coffee alternative available. As former coffee addicts we can attest that Cafe Cebada satisfies our want of a suitable warm beverage with real positive health benefits. Causes We Support
Our family believes in giving back to our community locally and worldwide. That’s why 10% of our profits goes directly to help fund The Nehemiah Project.

Growing a business is great but we believe that we are commanded to use the increase of our business to make the world a better place for those less fortunate than ourselves. Let’s face it. If we’re honest with ourselves, even the poorest among us are wealthier than most people around the world.

The Nehemiah Project
The Nehemiah Project is a unique online mission initiative focused on bringing humanitarian relief to impoverished areas of the world. Missionaries around the world will be able to post humanitarian needs in their areas directly online. Then people with a heart for that project or area of the world will be able to donate specifically to that project. This effort will insure that 100% of donated funds reach the people in need.

The Nehemiah Project has a philosophy that people first need relief from their circumstances. This can come in many forms but  The Nehemiah Project only with assisting missionaries to provide humanitarian relief to the people they serve. Clean water, shelter, medical care & supplies and education are just a few of the areas that are accepted for consideration by The Nehemiah Project.
